“Effortlessly beautiful vocals”
– The AU Review

Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent border restrictions, Emily Wurramara's performance at Eternity Playhouse on 15 January has been cancelled.

IN ASSOCIATION WITH SYDNEY FRINGE

Experience the effortlessly beautiful music of ARIA-nominated singer-songwriter and Warnindhilyagwa woman Emily Wurramara in The Eternity Playhouse.

Born in one of the most remote places in Australia – Groote Eylandt off the coast of the Northern Territory – Wurramara was inspired by the harmonies and songs (mostly sung by men) that she heard on visits back to the island. Now, Wurramura plays six instruments and sings half in English and half in her ancestral language, Anindilyakwa.

“I'm not only doing this for my culture, I'm doing this for the young women and young men who are the next generation to come and show them that there is no shame in wanting to show your culture and to preserve it, Wurramara told SBS.

“Because at the end of the day that's what I'm trying to do - I want to archive my language for our future generations so they always have it there, and what better way to do it other than music."

Hear one of Australia’s most-promising and captivating songwriting talents in an intimate theatre setting.
