This is an outdoor all-weather event and Sydney Festival is committed to going ahead with performances come rain or shine. Please come prepared.
Step outside for a pop-up musical and performative walking tour of Erskineville featuring diverse duo combinations from a range of cultural backgrounds, now firmly rooted here in Australia. In parks, courtyards and unexpected pockets of green, Ensemble Offspring's acclaimed instrumentalists pair up with special guests for six unique duets - sharing universal stories told from the heart.
On one corner experience spoken word poetry from Somalia, on another a guzheng superstar from China. Hear music by a railway line, traditional dreaming stories, local indie legends and more.
Join the musicians of one of Australia’s most imaginative and innovative ensembles for Musical Microparks as they transform inner-city urban landscapes into one-off sonic wonderlands.
Runtime: 120 mins
Book into one of the six colour groups below to experience a 'pot luck' tour of 4 of the 6 duets. Your 'pot luck' colour group meeting point will be sent to you with your ticket.
Fri 15 Jan from 5.30pm
Sat 16 Jan from 5.30pm
Sun 17 Jan from 5.30pm
All stations for Musical Microparks are wheelchair accessible. Walking distance between each site ranges from 40 seconds to 6.5 minutes.
Some seating available. To discuss your access requirements, please call Sydney Festival on 02 8248 6500 or email access@sydneyfestival.org.au.
Face masks are mandatory at all Sydney Festival events for all patrons 13 years and older, in line with NSW Government regulations. A face mask is required at all times while inside foyers, theatres and outdoor venues, including during performances. Children 12 and under are exempt but are encouraged to wear masks where practicable.
On purchasing your ticket, you will be assigned to a group and issued with a meeting point for the first performance. For your safety and enjoyment, we ask that you stay with your assigned group so that numbers can be controlled at each location.
There will be six sets during the performance and you will witness four of these. Each performance will last 20 minutes and you will have 10 minutes to make your way to the next location with your group. On average each ‘park’ is an easy walk of under 5 minutes so there will be ample time between each set.
Please note that attendance at the Musical Microparks event does not guarantee that you will see specific sets as this is dependent on the group and route to which you are assigned.
Seating will be provided at each venue but will prioritised for patrons of limited mobility. Please bring a light portable chair to guarantee seating for the performance.
