"Art Gallery of NSW is committed to protecting the health and safety of our visitors and continues to follow guidance from NSW Health. In light of current precautions for audience members and performers, we've regretfully cancelled our Sydney Festival event for Saturday 9 January, Archie Plus: Portraits of now."
This summer the Art Gallery of New South Wales comes alive with Archie Plus, a festival of portraiture celebrating people and the power of community in a challenging year.
From murals and music to exhibitions and pop-up performances, Archie Plus is a collective portrait of our local artistic community in action, a portrait of 2020, and a portrait of our city, that runs until Sunday 10 January 2021.
On Saturday 9 January, Portraits of now will reunite each of the Archie Plus contributors of art, music, spoken word and dance for one day only, in a live celebration of portraiture in all its forms.
This unmissable, vibrant and uplifting free event features performances by L-FRESH the Lion, Juliette Barton (Sydney Dance Company), Winnie Dunn, Angela Goh, Frank Mainoo and Ruth Fattal alongside new art created by artists such as Adrienne Doig, Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran, Angela Tiatia, Studio A, L-FRESH the Lion and Nardean.
Face masks are mandatory at all Sydney Festival events for all patrons 13 years and older, in line with NSW Government regulations. A face mask is required at all times while inside foyers, theatres and outdoor venues, including during performances. Children 12 and under are exempt but are encouraged to wear masks where practicable.
